Independent research for Triangle homeowners

Raleigh New Builds exists to help people building custom homes in the Triangle make better decisions — with research, not sales pitches.

What we do

We research, organize, and publish guides covering every stage of building a custom home in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. From understanding construction costs and timelines to evaluating builders and finding the right lot, our content is built on local data and real-world experience.

Every guide is written with one goal: giving homeowners the information they need to make confident decisions about their build.

Our independence

We are not a builder, brokerage, or lender. Our research is conducted independently, and our recommendations are based on publicly available data, professional standards, and direct industry knowledge.

Some builders pay to be listed in our directory. These paid partnerships are always clearly disclosed. Our editorial content — costs data, process guides, neighborhood analysis — is never influenced by partnerships.

Why the Triangle

The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill metro is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country for new residential construction. Wake County alone issued over 17,000 building permits in 2023, and the Triangle consistently ranks among the top markets nationally for new home construction per capita.

That growth means more people navigating the custom home process for the first time — often without a reliable, local source of information. That's the gap we fill.

How we research

Our content draws on county permit records, MLS data, builder interviews, construction industry standards, and local zoning and regulatory documentation. We cite sources where possible and update guides as market conditions change.

We don't publish content we can't verify. If something is an estimate or projection, we say so.
